Goldenloch 28/07/2008
The fishing at the Goldenloch has improved dramatically this past week with anglers getting really good catches if they are using the right flies, the 9 lads from Cats whiskers had their annual outing on Saturday and had a great day, with a blistering hot sun breaking through around 2pm the fish just kept on rising much to their delight best catch of the day went to Sandy Kopyto Kirkcaldy who had 3 for 16.5lbs all caught on a pheasant tailed nymph, other anglers present had an equally good time John Leckie Strathmiglo 8 returned and Jim Ward Kirkcaldy 6 returned, Sunday saw the sun out even earlier and this seemed to slow down the fish a little however it picked up latter in the day when a bit of cloud cover arrived, D Clerk Glenfarg had 2 for 5.5lbs and S Ewart 1 at 2lbs, Audrey Brown Cupar using a Montana fly caught 2 for 4lbs, Causing a bit of concern this year at the Goldenloch is the water level with little significant rain since April the water level has dropped to an alarmingly low level all the heavy showers that have fallen this year seemed to have missed us we have had the odd wet day but nothing of any consequence if the rate of evaporation continues we will be having a few problems with the boats as they are already starting to ground on the banked areas in the loch, anglers will just have to be tolerant as there is not much we can do about it,
