Goldenloch 23/06/2008
At the Goldenloch this past week the fishing has been pretty average, the problem seems to be that the fish are just not interested in anything that that is presented to them, some lads are doing well, but the majority are struggling, trying to understand what is happening is not easy as there are quite a few variables the water is warm about 17 degrees and the air temperature can be as low as 8, this causes the fish to lie low in the water, and there is a huge amount of food available for the fish in the loch with tadpoles being the main cause for concern, sometimes in the early morning they can be seen like an oil slick moving around the shoreline however they should be leaving the water soon as they are halfway to changing into frogs, the water in the loch is still cloudy due mostly to the ever changing wind that constantly keeps the water stirred up, the water level is low this year due to the extreme lack of rain even in the past few days when rain has fallen everywhere we have only had a couple of heavy showers so when will this all improve, the answer is soon I hope, but even in all this adversity some if not most anglers are still having a good day John Leckie and D Sinclair, Strathmiglo using buzzers and diawl bachs had 2 each for 4.5lbs Bill Paterson Glenrothes 3 for 8lbs, the lads from Fife Police had a great evenings sport with everyone getting fish and reporting loads of pulls and tugs.
