Goldenloch 19/05/2008
Its been a really good week at the Goldenloch with anglers having a great days sport, the fish have been taking to most flies the best being black and green buzzers which have definitely had the most results, this year with all the cold winds that we had in March and April it looks like the season is about four weeks late and that is noted by the tadpole hatch being much later than last year, however the buzzer hatches are good with extremely large greenish buzzers coming to the surface most of the time, last night, Sunday, very late, there was a huge hatch and the fish responded by showing all over the loch in big numbers, it was a very encouraging sight one angler was present and he just was in his element, it has been however still been quite cold at night and in the early mornings but the forecast as from yesterday shows a much increased warming of temperatures, this past week has also seen a few guys fishing dry flies with mixed results it seems to work well in the mornings and about 8pm at night when the sun is low in the sky, this is mostly due to the small black flies that appear when the wind has completely gone, Mr Amos Edinburgh and his girlfriend caught 3 all returned using a size 18 home tied dry fly which he had been desperate to use since his last visit well pleased he was going home to make more as the fish had completely destroyed the ones he had, Derek Pozzi, Glenrothes fishing twice hear at the weekend had 14 all returned and Graham Connelly, Kirkcaldy using his float tube returned all his fish Billy Harris Cupar had a nice bag with 3 for 9lbs as did John Coghill Glenrothes who had 2 for 6lbs.
