Week ending 25/sept/07 goldenloch
This past week at the Goldenloch has seen excellent returns by nearly everyone that has been fishing, it’s a pleasure to read the catches book, Sunday saw Anne and I of to Edinburgh to look at big telly’s I couldn’t get out of it any more with excuses of having to look after the fishing and on my return and on getting the book I see that everyone has had a great day even Jock Wallace from Ballingry managing to catch 4 for 8lbs well done, G Mackie 3 for 6lbs using an ace of spades it looks like the 7 lads from the Riverside had a good day with all getting full catches, with the horrible summer now gone and autumn having arrived we should see some really good sport, actually its quite strange but to-night whilst I was down at the lodge the lights for the first time in a long time were covered in small flies and moths, during the week Wednesday was a superb day for everyone with some first time anglers getting 3 fish each and some good respectable catches as well, Brian Stewart, Dundee, 4 returned and his buddy W Robertson 3 for 6lbs hope Willie feels better as they had to cut short their fishing due to him not feeling so good, D K Hutton, Windygates, 3 using a Humongus. So why has it been such a poor Summer for anglers we have been trying to find the answer by speaking to some of the fishing and biological experts and the most plausible answer seems to be that the fly life was tricked into thinking summer had arrived with the early warm spell back in May which saw a huge amount of bloodworm hatch, this warm spell also created a massive frog spawn and the resulting tadpole and frog population could have something to do with the poor hatches or perhaps you have a good theory, interestingly this year I would think it a pretty good summery that nearly everyone that has visited has had an excellent day
