Week ending 02/july/07 goldenloch
The fishing at the Goldenloch this past week is probably the best its ever been with fish rising and taking dry flies in all areas of the loch, anglers have had a fantastic time some obviously more than others the water clarity is about 1.5 m with a splurge of green algae though it, we are however expecting the clarity to get less as the algae gets thicker, the fishing has been superb and hatches from the bottom have been excellent in the next few weeks we expect the buzzers to get quite a bit larger as the temperature rises however Saturday night saw a massive hatch under the trees and the loch just explode into life, the purchase of the correct type of aerators has been a huge success, and should be very useful now in trying to keep the green algae a little bit under control especially on those windless days, Anglers having a really good day included S Kapyto, I Linton, M Limton, G Connely, D Houston, B Duffy, all getting maximum catches of 3 in the bag plus 6 returned barbless, Greig Urqhart using dries had 3 for 6.5lbs as did Kevin Anderson, Edinburgh fishing with his wife just after a massive thunderstorm, the fish are giving a really good fight at the moment and anglers are comments are that they are getting plenty of offers however its not easy fishing as the fish are a lot of the time just nibbling and coming short, what we have noticed however is that anyone using bigger flies and or lures just aint getting as much as the chaps with the real kit, it just makes the fishing more interesting.
