Week ending 07/may/07 goldenloch
This weekend at the Goldenloch has been relatively quiet due mostly to the persistent high winds that have blown from the east, the weather has not been good for fly fishing this year so far mostly because of the really cold nights and windy days, however I took some time to explore the weeds at the far end of the loch just to see if this is where the fish have been hiding and was I surprised at what I found, tadpoles, billions of tadpoles, in all the years that the Goldenloch has been a fishery we have never seen such a huge amount of tadpoles and the fish are just lying gorging them, within a few minutes of being their I had frightened several fish and they shot out down the loch the tadpole swarms have all got legs so are not far from climbing out of the water on further exploration I was able to see that many of the fish were lying just on the edge of the reeds facing them just waiting for the tadpoles to come to their mouths, with another load of fish put in on Friday we were able to see that they disappeared down the bank side quickly hopefully they might stay there giving the bank anglers some good sport.
