Week ending 06/nov/06 goldenloch
In the last seven days, the water level at the Goldenloch has risen to its maximum for the first time since May, the temperature of the water has fallen into single figures and the wind has been giving anglers a really hard time, starting on Monday past with six lads on the loch early am having to give up because the wind was just to strong, the next day saw Messrs James Emery and Ewan Harvey, Newcastle, take to the water in another windy day, after battling to get to the far end of the loch the anchor was thrown over the fence, they relaxed with a coffee and nibbles, James casually tossed his line into the water more to get his rod out of the way and bang, his first, proceeding to then go on and have their best days fishing ever, changing flies to try and find what the fish weren’t taking was the only way to find out what was best, as the wind never gave up all day so the lads just sat in the relative calm, sheltered by the reeds, This past weekend has seen a dramatic drop in the air temperature which has put the fish much deeper, however the anglers ability to change tactics saw nearly everyone fully bagged up and some again having their best days ever, under the trees and the jetty on the east side has produced the highest catches with the middle jetty on the main bank running a close second, Ray from Bankfoot arriving late saw all the boats out and went on the bank and caught 8 fish using mostly black flies as usual all were returned safely, having his best day for a long time was Gordon Mackie Lochore with 3 for 6lbs and 5 returned using a daddy.
