Week ending 31/07/06 goldenloch
End of July fishing is expected to be hard going and this year is no exception, the fish this year seem to have an extraordinary large quantity of natural feeding and are therefore very fussy about what they will be taking, one day it could be a green buzzer and the following day an orange fly, getting the size, colour and type of fly right is making it very hard going, yet some get it and often when one gets it right, then the partner if the anglers are on a boat will both catch fish, Friday night saw Fife Police Angling Club fishing and two of the lads were bagged up after two hours fishing, yet the rest only caught ones and twos Saturday saw the same when Mr and Mrs J Rogers Edinburgh using very small orange buzzers had 3 each for a total weight of 16lbs in a few hours and the only other fish caught were from the bank. Mr Harry Wyse, Markinch using buzzers had 3 for 8lbs as he was going on the anglers coming off the water commented that it was hard going yet he found it relatively easy, Mr A Penrice, Ceres using a cruncher caught a magnificent 9lb rainbow that had obviously been in the loch for a few years with its huge well formed tail and fins. The water level is getting low and we have put out markers to show where there are shallows, the clarity is excellent and the temperature is holding at approx 20 degrees so with rain expected the fishing should improve quickly.
