Week ending 17/07/06 goldenloch
As predicted last week all the conditions for good sport fishing were coming together and the anglers would reap the rewards, catching fish from the surface using dry flies is what it is all about and the use of many of the old traditional flies just bring smiles all-round, Mr Harry Edwards and colleagues, from Livingstone were fishing from the boat and bank using Greenwell’s spiders, Claret Hoppers and Loch Ordies they had the fish chasing and taking the flies from underneath as they were jumping out the water, after having their best days fishing for years the lads had 9 for 24lbs returning a few to fight again, Audrey Brown Cupar showed the boys up on Saturday night, with 3 for 8lbs using a shipman’s and Mrs Herd, Kelty, after an illness day was made perfect when she caught 2 using dries, Davy Sinclair, Strathmiglo, using pheasant tailed nymphs had 3 for 9 lbs was well pleased and had retuned a couple as well, Having his best day for a long time was Mr Dunn, Glenrothes with 3 for 8lbs and 4 returned. The water is crystal clear and the loch completely weed free allowing anglers to pick a spot where they reckon their best chances will be, the far end and down the jetty bank seem to be best however for those like to catch Brown trout, under the trees is producing some excellent sport, returning 7 was Mr and Mrs Evans from Edinburgh using a size 14 Black Midge and a size 18 Blue Dun amazingly they never caught a rainbow.
