Week ending 03/04/06 goldenloch
Really nice weather and conditions at the Goldenloch saw many anglers with big smiles on their faces, the fish which have been mostly concentrated around the edges for the last couple of weeks are now across the whole loch and Saturday saw the first real rise of the season, buzzers were the fly to use as the loch surface by 11am had a fair concentration of shuchs floating on the surface, the most excited angler this past week however has to be Mr Colin Laird, Markinch, Colin fishing on his own had a really fit, well over wintered Brownie at 5 lbs and also lost a rainbow that was well into double figures, he also returned 6 his best day ever, Evening anglers T White and J Tarvit, both Anstruther had a great time catching 3 each and losing about 3 or 4 each using Diawl Bachs, Local lads Colin Jeffrey and l Dickie Auchtermucty both had 3 each and returned 5 each, Steve McCarthy, Lochore made up for his last trip when the conditions were appalling by catching and returning 7 using a yellow dancer, the last few days has seen the return of a mass concentration of Sand Martins, which have been steadily flying over the water this has to be a good indicator for early hatching flies mostly at approx 2pm and 7pm, in the middle of this flock of diving birds was visiting anglers Mr and Mrs Hampton from Holland, both using their own made buzzers had 3 fish each for 15lbs and returned quite a few, in Scotland for a Fly fishing week they were well impressed by the quality of fish in the Scottish lochs and the ease at getting onto them to fish, in Holland they have to book at least a week in advance.
