Week ending 25/04/05 goldenloch
This past week at the Goldenloch has seen the worst April fishing conditions for many years with average day temperature a full 6 degrees colder than the last two or three years, add a constant surface wind and it becomes very difficult to entice any fish to take flies, some chaps did still manage and the experienced, skilled anglers always get their quarry, Mr Thomson, Turriff with more than a few years on the average fisherman had no problem in getting his 3 for 6.5lbs as did Mr David Falcner, Glenrothes who using a black buzzer on one of the slightly warmer days caught 3 for 6 lbs Mr Peter Wood Star had 2 rainbows for 5lbs and his son Gavin 11 yrs caught his first ever at the Goldenloch a beautiful 2.5lbs rainbow, using a black green mini cat Catch of the week definitely goes to Jim Wilson, Dalgety bay who only now is fishing for brown trout here at the Goldenloch, Jim caught a 4lbs Brownie with the smallest of flies (match head ) and landed the most perfect specimen it had a huge tail and massive dorsal fins giving Jim a fight he will remember for a long time, so much of a fight that the tip of his rod snapped and the offending piece did nothing to help the landing as the fly size was so small and as normal with Jim barb less
