Week ending 29/11/04 goldenloch, some days hot and cold
At the Goldenloch this week every day has been very different, anglers have had beautiful sunny warm calm conditions, Messer’s Duke and Richardson, Carnoustie, had 2 each for 12lbs on a day that resembled a mid summers day and were treated to fish nibbling and taking their flies on the surface, on the next day with wind and rain hardy anglers Mr I Waddell, Kennoway had 3 for 7lbs and Mr J Chalmers Falkland 2 for 4.5lbs, both anglers commenting that their fingers were suffering in the cold, conditions on the loch are however good with the water clear and levels normal and the temperature of the water has been static at around the 5 degree mark for most of November what is unusual for this time of year is the insect life still active in the water, fresh water shrimps and small beetles are still abundant under and around the jetties, making good use of a lovely afternoon Mr Jim Wilson Dalgety Bay using small dry flies had 3 from the bank and then latter moving to a boat had 3 more for 8.5lbs, Mr Jim Fulton, Windygates and his pal Mr T Duncan, visiting from Dayton Ohio USA had 6 for 15lbs using an Orange Fritz both lads had a great day covering every part of the water and catching fish in all parts of the loch
