Week ending 22/11/04 goldenloch
Hardy anglers this week at the Goldenloch were Mr Jim Wilson, Dalgety Bay who on a very crisp day had 5, all returned and all around the 3lb mark, and Mr Colin Neville Springfield catching 3 for 10lbs both anglers had problems with ice, Jims was that his line kept freezing in the eyes of his rod and the ringlets closed up completely, however he commented that the fish were still feeding actively around eastern edge and that for about an hour their were huge amounts of fish chasing fry under the jetties, Colin’s problem was slightly different in that the loch surface was freezing in the flat calm and he was having difficulty finding a clear spot to cast into, struggling as he returned to the main jetty breaking through the ice, Mr Dave Swinley, Lochgelly, the day before however had been fishing in glorious weather, positively warm and had caught 4, Dave had enjoyed a very relaxing day with just a small breeze putting a nice ripple on the surface, Four St Andrews University students having a break from studies had an outing on a day that was warm and flat calm, with only one experienced angler they were not expecting to catch much, after a huge amount of deliberation all went onto jetties and using only one fly on their cast, a small hares ear, all caught a fish within minutes, the laughter and excitement we are sure could have been heard in St Andrews at the end of the day their return was 11 fish for 26lbs.
