Week ending 20/09/04 goldenlochtail end of the hurricanes
With the weather again battering the fishermen only the hardiest have braved the elements, catches have been extremely good however, high winds and rain have been the biggest problem, the water is absolutely gin clear and the fish are moving in all parts of the loch with the bank anglers definitely getting the best catches, Mr Brian James and Billy McLaren both from StAndrews on a blustery day had 6 for 20lbs and returned 8 catching all on Bibios and Montana’s, Mr S Ewart Kinross and friend Mr D Cliesh, Kinross, both had a really good day on Sunday despite the high wind managing to get their boat secured in a favourable spot they had 6 for 15lbs returning a n amount to fight again, Mr James Garrigan Glenrothes had 9lb of fish all caught using Diawl Bachs and returned 3 and Mr S Cameron and son Leven had 3 for 7.5lbs using a Silver Invicta, With nearly every angler coming of the water with stories of lost casts and straightened hooks we are now convinced that the majority of the fish in the loch are growing to quite a considerable size and with the average catch weight this year increasing to over 2.5lbs per fish the fights and returns are good for the angler. bearing this out was Mr P Walker from Cargill who using an Olive Nymph had 2 for 6.5 lbs and returned 1 that was in excess of 9lbs his only other comment was that he had lost so many by not getting them hooked right
