Crazy days fishing at the goldenloch
A crazy weeks fishing at the Goldenloch, for the last 6 days fishing the at the Goldenloch has been very unusual with the fish behaving very strange, at this time of year its not uncommon for the fish to just cruise around with their fins and tails showing causing the anglers frustration as they try to find something to attract their attention, however what is unusual this year is that sometimes even during the hottest of days a rise will start mid afternoon and if you are the lucky one that’s there you will catch fish, complete beginners James and John Dally, from Inverness aged 11 and 13 had 3 each, 6 for 16lbs all on diawl bachs from the jetties, both lads after an hours tuition, had been left just to go and practise their casting and with a single fly on their lines caught in a huge rise these fish when granny arrived to pick them up both lads ignored her as they just wanted to stay and fish, another lucky chap was a local pensioner Jimmy Grant, Auchtermuchty who on one of his very few short fishing trips, one hour, managed to catch a 6lb and a 5lb rainbow from the boat jetty, Jimmy’s comment was that people today just canny fish right and its all in the cast, Hopefully now as of Monday 9th August, after a rare and exciting thunderstorm the conditions will change from the horrible muggy weather of the last week and with the vast amount of rain that has just fallen to top up and freshen the loch normal fishing conditions will resume allowing other anglers to catch fish just like Jimmy did.
