Week ending 26/04/04
goldenloch
Goldenloch anglers had glorious weather at the weekend and everyone enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the days, unfortunately so did the fish, as they were proving very hard to catch, trying to find what they were taking for some was very frustrating and for the gents getting it right hugely rewarding, most fish were caught from the bank and or jetties, and Mr Jock Sutherland, Dunshelt using a translucent red buzzer just couldn’t do anything wrong with 3 in the bag for 7lbs he returned a further 6 all caught on the same fly, the fish that were caught from they boats was in the early morning or late evening and comments were that they put up fantastic fights and that they were in really good condition with big tails and fins, some anglers got the right fly combinations very quick Mr Alec Wilson, Glenrothes had his bag of 11lbs and returned a further 9 using a yellow dancer and a damsel and Mr Middleton, Lonforgan had in his bag 12lbs all on damsels finding it hard was Mr Dave Sutherland, who after trying every fly in the box managed with a humongous to land 2 really nice fish for 5lbs both Dave and his partner John Shaw arrived when the sun was at its highest and the fish had decided to go deep and hide, Dave however deciding a move to the bank would be more fruitful, and then had several offers before getting his catch.
This was not a weekend for anglers who were learning and or had little experience, it was really hard work, the results were very good considering that there were 4 days of extremely high winds before Friday and the loch bottom had been well stirred up, providing a massive food reserve for the fish of blood worms, snails and shrimps.
