Goldenloch
March 06th–Week 10- 2017
Wow, we have had some rain in the last 4 days, the new water level in the loch, has just become a record breaking new level, every day I have bailed at least 4 inches of water out each boat, one of the consequences’ of heavy rainfall is the muddying of the water, which last week had cleared, this is the fourth time so far this year the water has become so murky, however it doesn’t really affect the fishing as those fishing this week will testify, yesterday was a glorious day, with a nice warm bright sun and a wee breeze on the water, some old favourites’ out this weekend, Mr Duff, Buckhaven who just enjoys his catch and release, an old friend, Piero Ricardo visiting from Barcelona, caught a few, well done I am so sorry I was not back in time before he left, for the weather it has been good to see so many faces in the last week or so but their eagerness to go fishing is amazing as the conditions are far from ideal, very wet for a start, still cold, and very soft underfoot, but things are changing 3 or 4 weeks ago the relative humidity was up in the 80% area and now its down in the 60s which just shows that there is a faster absorption of water back into the atmosphere, so all you home guys better start getting your gear ready, warmer days are nearly here, the fishing has been excellent most of this last month, with hard days mostly caused by a cold East wind, the condition of the fish is exceptionally good for this time of the year, apart from the Brown trout which really do not eat nor forage when the temperature is below 4 degrees, its just that they are a bit lean, however this will change soon as when the water warms a little they will feed like never before, remember the fish here at the Goldenloch, are mostly resident fish that are pretty much at one with nature, many having been in the water for a few years, this makes them excellent sport when it comes to fishing and many anglers will testify that catching fish here is not only a challenge but great sport. Capt Kemp I do know that you read these reports and understand that you are waiting for the proper moment to come fishing (I will advise when I stock one day, “Stockie Bashing” is for some the only way to catch fish) I did see a picture in the newspaper with the two blondes however.
