September-12th –Week 37-2016
Much cooler now, this last week has seen a huge amount of wind and rain, its done nothing but a power of good, good for the fishing that is, the water temperature is now down a reasonable amount, to be fair it has been getting lower for the last three weeks, but certain really hot days were pumping it back up again, we actually had four days this year with the temperature up to around 30 degrees, the problem is without weed cover in the water the fish just go deep and burrow into the loch floor, the water is amazingly crystal clear it has been all year, oxygen levels are normal and its fishing great, Alex Burns, Glenrothes, a regular fishing yesterday, Sunday did really well, it was very breezy and although most had caught fish one guy just couldn’t connect, true to form I spotted Alec showing this guy what to use, even saw him giving the guys a handful of flies, that’s a proper fly fisher, a real angler, none of this when asked what, did you catch them with answered by a sarcastic, “a Fly” honestly at this level fishing is about enjoyment, hard work on Friday with four lads getting blown of the loch, it was touch and go whether to let them on as the wind was coming in droves, but the lack of weeds for the anchors to grab meant that boats were soon blown back down to this end, it did however lighten as the day progressed and ended up with relative calm, a few campers are still having the odd nights fishing but with the evenings getting darker and colder this will soon stop, A big thank you to the anglers this year that have donated or rather lets call it “Recycling Fishing Equipment” this year has seen more beneficiaries’ that will eventually become future anglers and a huge thank you to Camran Bowie, he is the guy who spent hours and days sorting out the flies and putting them into boxes, and what a good job he did, only this last few weeks has seen 5 more get a complete kit, rod, reel, bag, box of flies etc and hopefully 5 new anglers courtesy of a youth organisation, funnily enough the day they were here was probably the hottest day of the year and the only fish caught was by two girls who have no intention of ever fishing again, both fish were caught on a green fab blob, so this looks like the end of the summer season and the winter about to start, Actually I just about forgot a very special mention that both Les Skinner and Watty Watson, had a great day, with both lads catching fish all day, in what turned out to be quite a challenging session with the wind blowing extremely hard.
