June 26th –Week 26-2016
Well for me I recon this is mid season, and for those in the Fly Fishing habit, it really cant get much better than it is right now, phenomenal rises with fish everywhere, and I mean everywhere, however these fish are not for some easy to catch, for those lads with experience and wisdom the fishing is outstanding, this last week has seen many double hook ups and at least one triple hook up, all the fish are well formed and are of exceptional quality, many are older fish perhaps two to three years in the loch and have tails on them like a large hand, so why then are some lads finding it hard, well basically they are using their lures and nymphs on sinking lines fishing the bottom, and perhaps not understanding that here the fish are not stockies, and are resident older wiser fish and as such are only feeding when it suits them, for example the single most and best technique at the moment is pulling dry flies, preferably sedges across the surface using a floating line with a very thin leader, not rapid but not to slow, fast enough that a wake is formed by the fly, some people have been getting a fish at nearly every cast, this week there has been at least 20 anglers catching 20 or more fish, Barbless hooks are a must and indeed is a requirement for all anglers, fishing Catch and Release, due to warmer weather now upon us snap inspections will be held, with no mercy anyone using barbed hooks will be leaving the loch, the weed is being tackled and efforts to remove it await a strong wind most has been undercut, however the lads that are affected are the ones pulling lures, but first and foremost is the ability for you the angler to enjoy and relax with great fighting fish rising and splashing all around and that what we have at the moment and it cant get better than that.
