May 16th –Week 20-2016
Its Summer time, pretty safe to say after 5 blistering hot days summer has arrived, the fishing is pretty much up and running well after what has to be one of the poorest, coldest springs for years, the East wind was the killer and even although we are still getting a few hours of it now and again the warmer water and daylight covers the horrid times.
The water is still cold to touch and hasn’t really got warmed up properly; this could be possibly due to the bitterly cold mornings due in most to the completely clear cloudless skies, but fish are feeding, in fact there is a definite bonus and good fishing for those that are prepared to get here early doors and I don’t mean 8 am more like 6, so how’s the fishing well for some most it would seem that the fish are all lying in one place and everyone knows where that is, however fish are being caught all over the water, I would know about the bank as there hasn’t really been that many fishing it for a few days, what I do know is that the best fly at the moment seems to be buzzers and nymphs, the fish are in good condition and give a good fight, for those interested in the wildlife our resident dog otter came out during the day yesterday and had a wee play, and a swim across the loch, bright orange in colour and huge and I mean huge this guy just is trying me to the limit plus the Ospreys are back feeding, I do know and realise that people get all excited about these creatures but I really do wish they would go somewhere else, so for those anglers looking for a days fishing enjoying nature at its best the Goldenloch the place to be and you’ll find a crazy owner jumping up and down shouting, Quick mention to the lads of Barry’s angling club nice to see all you guys again and really happy to see you all had a good day, its pleasure having you.
