Week ending 27/06/05 goldenloch
Having said last week that the fishing at the Goldenloch “was nearly back to normal”, we find that again the weather conditions of this crazy season, especially the last four extremely hot days has made the fishing tough again, with the water temperature climbing so fast the fish are just lying low, the pond life, invertebrates, has just exploded and the water is full of small insects and larvae, a test done by the science labs showed that the algae we had, was clear of any dangers, and that after it had exhausted the nutrients it was thriving on, it would die back, this is happening albeit slowly, very early morning about 6 till 8, is when the fish are most active and again about 11pm at night. Some of the lads fishing during the day however can manage to just get it right, Messer’s Duke and Richardson, Carnoustie, caught 6 using a Pheasant Tailed nymph and a Muddler and Messer’s Stuart and Robertson Dundee had 5 for 10 lbs with the same flies, Mr G Brailsford, Leuchars had 3 for 6.5lbs on buzzers and returned 2, Best catch of the week goes however to Mr Jim Brown, Cupar who after a few times fishing using dry flies, managed a full bag of 3 for 6.5lbs he was delighted. Even when the fishing is hard, strange things do happen, worth a mention is that beginner Darren Kyle, Rossie, using a black buzzer caught his fish in the brightest part of the day and 12 yrs old Shaun Dobbie, Star had a 2lb rainbow again on a buzzer.
