Goldenloch
Apr 11th –Week 15-2016
Its April and normally things should be starting to warm up, but really cold nights and misty mornings are the norm, nearly every day, the effect is that the fishing really doesn’t get going till mid to late afternoon, there are some days that are different but not by much, but the fishing has still been pretty good and some anglers have done brilliant, Greg Watson and Aaron Scott, both had a superb night on Friday last week while another 4 lads struggled a bit, Saturday saw Allan Gibson catch fish immediately he started fishing of the bank, and 4 lads visiting from West Lothian also had a good days sport, interestingly, a very common comment from everybody is the fight and strength of the fish this year, possibly due to the copious amount of available insects and bugs that have been obvious in the water, but also due to the extraordinary high level of strong carryover fish in the loch, we had stocked over a 1000 brown trout last April May, and expect that more than half of that amount to be pretty much up in the 2.5 to 3.0lb size by now, this being verified by anglers comments, last night, Sunday for example was one of those nights that were warm and pretty much flat calm a father and son fishing till 8pm had a fantastic nights fishing with the son out fishing dad, this a repeat of last Wednesday when another father and son fishing, the son having a great day and the father not, this morning the 11th April sees a better start 7am and the sun trying to shine, outside temp is still low at 3.8 degrees, but that should rise fast, our feathered friend from Africa arrived last week, and with it 2 of last years chicks, now there has been a fair bit of fighting and it looks like the most dominant bird is winning, however there have been dozens of attempted and aborted dives but I have not actually seen a fish caught yet, sweetly however the two young birds seem to be working Lindores which is just over the hill, sadly however is that we have had to get the SSPCA to come and uplift one of our swans, the poor bird devoted to its mother of last year was getting hammered by its father, to such an extent that we had to catch it and put it in the back of my jeep for its own safety, hopefully it is now in a sanctuary getting looked after.
