Jan-18th–Week 03-2016
More crazy weather but it is the third week in January, why is it crazy, well one day its +12 and the next its -2 and the next its + 10 and then a night of -8, that is a bit erratic, what I do know is that fish do not like sudden changes, either in wind direction, air pressure or temperature so its not surprising that the catches just now are a bit meagre, three lads fishing on Thursday all from the bank all caught 1 each, the three fish were in great condition with the smallest being just a smidge over 3lbs, but it was a cold day and when the Sun went down, or rather when it got darker the lads all had lines and eyes in their rods freezing making it impossible to fish, what were they catching with Stephen Drummond was using a combination of a Black Tadpole and buzzers while Billy Ronald, was using Olive Damsels and Consett Budgies, Brian Stewart was using his usual Green things and Yellow Dancers, the water level is definitely very high but the water itself is crystal clear, the weekend saw the water frozen over with a good 10 > 15 mm ice and without a wind it was pointless to break it as it would just lie and get in peoples way, the few that turned up weren’t disappointed and actually they just enjoyed hanging around chatting and having coffee, this next week is even to be more unsettled than the last.
