Goldenloch oct-05th –week 37-2015
Got a breeze today 6.1 its mph, our little weather station has started working again, for 11 days everything apart from the temperature has been more or less static, just shows that weather fronts can really get stuck, two weeks ago the fishing went right off, the fish were there they just didn’t want to be caught, interestingly and luckily for us they were still active and showed themselves all the time in all areas’, this situation lasted more or less till last Tuesday, then one morning we had a slight breeze and it was like the someone had flicked the proverbial switch, everyday since then it has just got better and better, most of the trout being caught just now seem to be much older fish, many in the 4 to 5 lb range, this is giving anglers a small dilemma, in that they know that the normal size we stock is 1 kilo, and use tackle accordingly when fish are double that size broken leaders become quite common, however it makes for great scraps being talked about, it also would seem that the preferred fly choice is CDC and shipman’s buzzers although there have been people mentioning spiders, PTN and the old fav diawl bachs, Anglers doing well this week, Peter Williamson, Newburgh 2 for 7lbs and I think he said 8 released, Peter is a great Newburgh angler fishing regularly at the now community owned Lochmill Reservoir said he had his best day for years, George Duff, Leven had 5 all from the bank all on a black suspender buzzer, B and W Ferguson having a great day returning many as did John and Paul Purvis but it was really good to see in the book Stan Karonkas name also noted Dave Wilson caught and released 10 well done, so all in all its back up to where it was before we had all those days of extreme sunshine, this morning Monday 5th October we see a mssive temperature drop it was 4 degrees its now 10 degrees at 9.30 am, that’s 8 degrees less than a week ago which was 12 and 17 at 10am, what a difference a week makes, so now’s the time to come fishing before it gets to cold.
