Goldenloch march-30th –week 13-2015
Cold and windy, but that was the weekend past, normally this week is the real start of spring, today it has started well, no cormorants today, and there are fish rising in all areas but definitely more than normal fish are showing in the bay beside the boats and up towards the first jetty, fishing this past weekend has been pretty miserable, due mostly to the severe cold that was finger numbing, on Sunday I just decided that anyone coming could have it for free, if they were prepared to fish in that, good on them, so I went down to Edinburgh to pick up a boat. There were a few exciting times last week Martin Nicol, Perth had 8 all within 30 mins, Harold Robertson, Inverleathin, with his pal who had been at a conference in Perth popped in, and boy were they glad they did, with Harold catching 6 all on the same fly, and his mate blanking till they swapped this sedge with a long tail fly and with 1 minute had 1 in the bag his mate was then happy, he then went on to catch another 4 and by that time the fly had completely started to disintegrate, who says fish aren’t fussy, there does seem to be fly life on the water even although it is still very cold, generally speaking however the fish that are getting caught just now would seem to be stocked fish, as the residents will hardly be bothered yet and still in their winter hibernation mode, it has been noted that there are a few fish being caught that have snails and leeches attached, these are just fish that are starting to move from weeks of being burrowed into their little snugs on the loch floor, a few complements regarding the fish quality and taste this year with is good to know as its always a pleasure to find that people appreciate a good fish.
