Goldenloch feb -23-, week 08, 2015
Monday 23rd February, on wakening and looking out the frosty window this morning, it definitely had the feeling of being back to arctic conditions, having just had in the past three or four days with the temperature up in double figures, which had encouraged the fish to become more active, and these warm days had actually brought the water temperature up one ½ a degree, plus the last week had been one of little wind and that in itself had got rid of the chill factor, its just seems like someone has pressed the reset button, but what about the fishing, well this last week its been pretty good, starting last Monday Eddie Henderson, Perth, 5 returned and a few dropped, Billy Hargreave, Scone 6 returned, one at 6lb + fought like a shark, Martin Nicol, Perth on a few trips averaged 2 / trip that’s all he ever wants to catch, stating that sedges and tadpoles were the best, one lad on Tuesday 9 from the bank all returned again stating that sedges and diawl bachs were doing the trick and that the fish were well near the sides which some others had also commented on, a couple of lads in wheel chairs braved the elements one day and had 3 or 4 each, not an easy day for them as a slight breeze made casting difficult but they persevered and ended up with a big smile which was good, Brian Dewar and Bill Smart had a day on a boat with one catching a few more that the other, however the whether turned chilly which made their day a bit shorter at the same time Arthur Henderson who was fishing on the bank after catching one decided that he had become so cold he couldn’t feel his fingers, its all the joys of fishing in winter.
