Goldenloch oct -06-, week 40, 2014
October brought a total change in dynamics at the Goldenloch, it all happened with a big bit of wind, not only did the weed that was cut, get blown to the side, at last, but also the fishing has changed dramatically, its now officially winter, for weeks the fish that have during the hot sunny days been hard to catch are now actively feeding all day, recently the fishing was good in the mornings and late evening, where fish were getting caught using sedge hogs, buzzers and various nymphs, the hard time to catch then was when most people were here which was between 10am and 4pm this being the time that people seem to have free for their weekly spell of relaxation, Sunday, yesterday saw a few anglers all catch 6 or more fish which was the same the day before, so what has caused the change, the wind is blowing steady now from the South West and is pretty steady in strength, the air atmospherics pressure have dropped quite significantly and the outside temperature is for the first time stayed below 10 degrees for more than 3 or 4 days, in all its all adding up to making some pretty good fishing weather, the water is both weed free and crystal clear, also there has been since Friday over 30 mm of rain, Brain Thomson here yesterday with his son Martin had 10 all caught on buzzers and damsel flies, Janet Anderson, Grangemouth, first time visiting here had 6 using a black penal and her friend James had 4 using sedges and crunchers but the best days fishing would have to be to a Mr Kinnaird, Dunfermline, not having fished since the days of Loch Fitty, using a very old fibreglass rod and some very old flies caught 3 brown trout, all returned, he had always wanted seemingly to come here and said that he will be back, he fished all afternoon from the bank on one of the hottest days last week and only caught brown trout ?
