Goldenloch july -28-, week 29, 2014
Well what a week this past week has been, we had four consecutive days of very high temperatures, in or around 28 degrees and all with no cloud, one day in the valley the car thermometer was at 32, so what happened to the fishing, well it suddenly became all awkward and unpredictable, up until Tuesday of last week everyone was getting good solid catches, with a few beginners still getting fish easily on Wednesday, but things were really hotting up weather wise, and although the fish could be seen on the surface, they had stopped being interested in anglers attempts, but some guys were getting it right, Sandy Drummond, Kettlebridge had 9 using sedges, on his leaving gave them to Tommy Ingles, Kincardine, who then had 5 with a Blue at 5lbs, Friday was probably the hardest day last week with very few fish caught it was also the hottest day and the slight breeze had completely turned around and was coming from the East, the fish just vanished into the depths, we had campers here and they did OK later at night with one getting 4 one getting 3 and the beginner getting 1, but the fishing had so to say “had fallen of a Cliff”, Saturday morning started early with a heat haze over the loch and the early anglers were greeted with a very warm water, fish were nowhere to be seen and it remained like that till late afternoon, in the early evening when a thunderstorm but not really much rain appeared it then with an air temperature drop and subsequent pressure changed the fishing, it became alive again, angler getting 3 and 4s, so Sunday morning started of well, nice fresh air and the early guys catching a few fish, but the day changed and became very hot and close, again the fishing was back to Saturdays’ conditions, today Monday we will put our aerator back in the loch, this should have an immediate affect of stirring up the structured water temperature levels and allow the fish freedom to move easily, and should very quickly put the fishing back on an even keel.
