Goldenloch july -21-, week 28, 2014
In all the years that I have been involved in running a fishery and all the ups and downs that go with running a fishery, I have never seen the Goldenloch fish so well as it is just now, we are not overly busy but business is steady, however for those fishing it is just pure out and out sport, the fish are not taking lures much but are on wets and dries, catches just now are usually accompanied by several attempts’ and follows which only go to excite the angler, some nice fish are being caught, Bryan Gove fishing with his pal Callum Munro both relative beginners and two keen anglers did well with 7 fish between them and Bryan catching in his bag of 4 a big fat Blue trout, the lads did well proving the point that to be able to fish you have to practise and accept that you will have a few hard days, Last night another beginner caught his first ever fish accompanied by his dad, other catches were Gary Nicolson first fish caught on a fly a 4 lber, Arran Scott 6 returned kept 2, Greg Watson 5 returned, Captain Brian Kemp 2 fish but he lost loads, plus breaking a very expensive rod, Angus Katt 1st ever fish caught, Eddie Henderson 1 kept lost a few, 1 returned, Brain Stewart 7 returned, Jim Swan kept 3 returned 8 all on dry flies all of the surface, R Hall Cupar a 3.5lb rainbow well formed massive tail, Also caught this week was the last tagged fish by Piotr Lansk on holiday with his sister, he was given the final envelope with a cash reward, our water is clear as it has been all year we have a very small amount of weed in one area where last year it was unfishable, on Saturday in this particular area the water was positively bubbling with fish as there was a massive and I mean massive damsel fly hatch, the fish were on a feeding frenzy, I actually thought there was a few fish in distress till I realised what was happening, its good and its fun, however there are always numpties and a fish was caught by an angler and in its mouth was a hook with a worm on it, in all sports its accepted there will be cheats, however in fishing for pleasure the only person you are cheating is yourself.
