Goldenloch january 28 / 2013 week 04
Been a big melt this past few days, water level is at high again, third time since November, its quite unbelievable, as in the years before it was 2003 that we last had such high water, now in two months we have had it three times, yesterday, Sunday we saw clear water, very quickly it had two swans and goodness knows how many ducks, and an angler, true to form about an hour after the ice had melted, Mr Hampton who hails from Dundee had been out having a scout around some of the fisheries he had heard about but never been to, whilst the snow was melting fast it was however still deep in the car park and as another angler who visited on Saturday will tell, is still impassable for cars, both lads having to be towed from their predicament, yesterday after having a bit of a laugh about it I said to this guy why doesn’t he go and have a few casts, just for fun, being that he was here and that there was clear water he could fish in, the deal being if he caught anything he put a fiver in the box, I then left him and went back to the garage, an hour later he turned up with a big smile and a 3 lb rainbow his first this year caught using a red diawl bach, and his first time using his new rod so he was well chuffed, we are about to install a new state of the ark weather forecasting station, this to go down at the lodge, this is always something I have wanted to have, but never quite been able to justify the cost, now however with the cost of manufacturing being lower and modern production techniques’ I can afford it.
