Goldenloch january 07 / 2013 week 02
Into the second week of the year at the Goldenloch, and if I was being completely honest the fishing for the amount of fish that are in the loch seems to be quite hard, the fish that are getting caught are very well formed and a good size with plenty of fight in them, but it seems that they are very hard to find or rather that they are staying down on the loch bottom, several fish have been spooned and it would seem that the content is bloodworms and shrimps with a fair bit of just mush, however interestingly every fish that was spooned was the same, The bank has definitely produced a lot more fish that the boats, with Thursday last week being a particularly good day, in that the sun was shining and 9 fish were caught from the middle and top jetties interestingly 4 of the fish caught were from the surface on dry flies, 2 were caught by the same fly a pheasant tailed nymph which would suggest that the fish were warming in the sun and obviously became interested in what was happening on the surface, Saturday, was a much better day than Sunday and it was also much warmer and brighter, and accordingly more fish were caught, so it would really seem what is needed now is some sunshine.
