Completely frozen solid
Completely Frozen Solid, I cant believe it, three or four weeks ago about the 10th of November, I very carefully watched the TV and looked on the internet for a weather forecast for December / January, all at that time were recovering from the after affects of the storm that hit New York, but there was a lot of rain all over the UK and wind mostly coming from the west, advance, or rather future forecasts all said the same thing, that December would be mild around 7-8 degrees, with January having a long dry spell, into a wetter February, None said anything about a Freezing cold December, anyway on the strength of the forecasts, I bought a big load of really good big fish, as I imagined a nice busy few weeks on the lead up to Christmas, that’s what it used to be like back in the day when you could trust the weather forecasters, and things like the economy were normal, anyway the fish should come to no harm apart from choking a few cormorants once the ice melts, but it just lets you see how even with very careful planning it can all go so wrong, on a much lighter note and for the benefit of those that enjoy a bit of humour, the other day I took a boat out to try and break some ice, and whilst, I was using it as a battering ram by reversing and taking a binge into the ice, a bit like an ice breaker would, I was making good steady process and managed to clear a path out into the unfrozen area in the centre of the loch, I then decided to attempt to break the ice in the area which some people call the hole or rather it is where the water is much deeper, and as I was getting braver I took a bigger run at the ice, only for the boat to go and ride up onto the ice and suddenly instead of the ice breaking under its weight, as it should and normally does the damn thing went sliding across the top, so there I was in a boat, out of the water on top of the ice, no phone as now every time I go near the loch due to the amount of phones that over the years get wet I leave them in the car I was marooned, At that stage you stop and have a thought and say to yourself “Didn’t expect That” or in my case a slightly more descriptive version, getting out the boat was not an option as I am sure the ice wouldn’t have taken my weight, however in the boat was a nice heavy anchor which I was able to use as a hammer, breaking the ice all around the boat allowing it back down into the water and eventually back to open water, OK so another lesson in life just leave things to nature and don’t meddle with the environment its detrimental to your health.
