Goldenloch september 03 / 2012 week 36
Its really hard to get anglers to believe that there are hundreds and hundreds of fish in the loch just now, when they come along during the day and struggle to see anything, but at night about 8.30 pm it’s a totally different story with fish feeding all over the loch literally everywhere, last night I went down about 9.30 in the grey dark when I just happened to notice a lad fishing from the middle jetty as I got closer I could see that the loch was bubbling with fish feeding just under the surface, the lad about 12 and his father were having a ball with the young lad getting fish on his line and not striking hard enough losing every fish meanwhile dad just kept on fishing and catching fish, returning them back to the loch, absolutely fantastic was their comments and brilliant fun, but during the day its just a big lump of water, fish are getting caught but its usually the better anglers that are catching them, what’s working well there have been a few fish caught using buzzers and a few on diawl bachs but the biggest majority of catches are being had on traditional Scottish wet flies, Greenwell’s Hares lug, Dunkeld, Black Pennell, and Bibio so its all about getting back to what fishing was like in the early part of the last century, never the less people are having a really nice day and the fish are being caught just not in the numbers that it used to be like.
