Goldenloch august 27 / 2012 week 35
Its been a rotten week weather wise with a very unpredictable forecast from day to day with some days very bright and very sunny intermingled with thunder and lightning and an unusual week for anglers some nights have been outstanding and others have been really quite ordinary, a fair description I would say, Monday night saw 3 anglers have a fantastic evenings fishing with great catches and fish hunting and chasing flies watched by an angler who said ill be up tomorrow which he did and it was a poor night, however the next two nights were again fantastic, day time fishing is also very erratic with some having a ball and others like Big John here from Lochgelly drawing a blank whilst two others had 5 and 6 respectively, this is not an easy season this year but the good news is I don’t think anyone has left without enjoying there days sport, we had yet another bit of bad luck this past week with a sudden death of approx 30 fish, at the time it was a complete mystery, but with all sudden deaths of any living creatures, cats, dogs, cows, sheep and birds, it must be reported, a fact not known by many but its the law, so yet another call to DEFRA in Glasgow, and another call from the labs in Aberdeen, however this time on a close examination of the fish it transpires we may have had a lightning strike which kills fish by stunning them and they cant breath 1 because their numbed and 2 because the water is deoxygenated , however oxygenator back on and oxygen level restored and the rest of the fish are fine, good news was that thankfully no one was fishing on a boat as the lightning bolt could have caused serious injury, please all take note a bolt of lightning travels horizontally over water for approx 50m, and can kill within that radius during any thunderstorms best to leave the water.
