Goldenloch august 20 / 2012 week 34
One thing I try to do in my weekly reports is be factual and accurate about the fishing, well this week its very pleasing to write that the water is at last clear, and that we have rising, nae jumping fish again, we have had a pretty good week with some lads coming of the water eventually, after having some of the best fishing ever, Alec Burns, Kirkcaldy had a great night on Saturday with after the sun went down, 14 in about 10 minutes,
The night before everyone left long before darkening and hadn’t caught much, but I went down about 10pm and there were fish rising everywhere, Sunday morning saw a flat calm with the loch bubbling with rising fish, fishing this year is all about the weather and the rain, with fish being very sensitive to changes, fish really don’t like changes, with the jet stream moving about latterly as well, we have seen huge variations in the barometric pressure with perhaps 3 changes in a day, unheard of 4 or 5 years ago the fish were just lying in the bottom of the loch, not doing anything, but thank goodness’ that’s changed and they are swimming about now, what some people don’t understand is that fish are amazing converters of protein to growth and as such when the feed they grow, they don’t need protein to keep warm or swim (maybe just a little to swim) but if they stop eating, which they do occasionally they do for as long as they want they just stop growing, here at the Goldenloch this year we have a huge supply of protein on the loch floor and the fish haven’t been rising or coming up because they had there grub down beside them, however something has changed and now its fishing time as the fish are back to being fun again, yesterday Bill Smart Kirkcaldy had a great fun day with fish chasing his flies making bow waves everywhere, back to sport and enjoyable fishing at Last.
