Week ending 15/11/04 goldenloch lots of feeding
Wildlife at the Goldenloch is very much on the increase with 22 Swans now seemingly making it their home and the duck and coot population well doubled up on last year, this we can only attribute to the treatment of the weeds last summer, which was done not only to curtail the weeds but also to provide a reliable food source for the fish, the larvae and insect life in the loch is still high even in mid November, Fishing this week has been good with all anglers filling their bags Mr Bob Cox, Dundee had 3 for 8lbs using damsels and diawl bachs and his partner for the day Mr Brian Middleton, Longforgan had 3 for 10lbs using the same flies, Mr Colin Neville, Springfield using a very small home tied White Fritz had 3 for 9.5 lbs returning a few, Colin very much a regular and often having what he describes as a good day said that this week he had his best ever days fishing with the fish positively attacking his fly, also having a great days fishing was Mr C McKenzie, Markinch who using black and red buzzers had 3 for 7lbs and returned 2. The new lodge and facilities are now being appreciated by the anglers as the much better toilet and warmer environment for having lunch makes a good day into an enjoyable one, Messer’s Robertson and Smith from Forfar were more than happy to point this out after catching their fish on a reasonably windy day they then spent the rest of the day sitting watching the world go by, Perfect was the comment.
