Goldenloch june 04 / 2012 week 23
What does one write about when its been a week of very mixed fortunes some lads have done very well, whilst others have not, it seems to be that there are just too many factors at work, yes the water is cloudy and that is impairing the fishing but with the amount of fish I have in the water it shouldn’t be that hard for some of them to find flies, early morning and very late at night are good times, with fish on the surface and feeding, but the cold east wind soon puts them down, on many days in the last week round the aerator was good for some, with Hamish Anderson, Edinburgh catching 9 using a silver Invicta, his brother Tom fishing from the bank had 3 using tadpoles and a black damsel, others especially on bright days really struggled and then the sun did not help the algae problem, which had seemed to be getting a lot better, but with a couple of really hot days it all just bloomed over again, anglers are however enjoying their days fishing and most leave with a fish, which considering what has happened this year is not bad, what about the algae it is definitely showing signs of deterioration and does not have the same vigorous edge on it as the wind blows the leeward end has about two to three feet visibility especially in the mornings, the ospreys have absolutely no problem finding fish with four here on Friday morning all catching, they cant be far from here as they were all returning about every 10 minutes, the loch bottom is absolutely covered in invertebrates and buzzers, never before have I seen so many, whilst out inspecting the algae we noted that the amount of small insects and tadpoles have reached epidemic proportions the weed and mud when brought up is just covered in everything, this also may be part of the problem in some anglers failing to connect with their elusive prey.
