Goldenloch august -22-11
Its nice when everything goes to plan, this week has seen reasonably nice weather with one or two colder evenings, loads of flies hatching on the loch, water reasonably settled and the level starting to drop, and most importantly anglers enjoying their days sport by catching a few fish, these past few days I think nearly everyone has caught their limit, interestingly this week, several fish were cleaned on site by various people, and it has been well noted that most of these fish were full of mush, snails and shrimp, Brian Kemp, Glenrothes fishing with his grandson who had never held a rod before caught 11 with 3 being caught by his boy, great days fun and loads of wildlife pictures as well, the catches book is now much more interesting to read as nearly every name has 2 or 3 fish recorded against it, Jim Slaven, Glenrothes did well on Wednesday catching 3 using only dry flies, yesterday we had a guest from New York who was over at a golf competition, fishing for only 2 hours he caught 3, all returned, with one he reckoned a 8lb rainbow, his comments were that the fishing here is so different from what he is used to, in that the fish here are much more fussy and take much softer also the fly size here is so much smaller that what he would normally fish with, but he had a ball, some lads this week have done a lot better than others though, A Hyndman, Muirhead, A Ovens, Strathmiglo, Clarke Hampton, Newcastle are all anglers that caught 11 fish and interestingly all caught using Diawl Bachs, which seems to be the most popular fly at the moment however the old favourite, The Kate McLaren, must be running a very close second place
