Week ending 27/09/04 goldenloch great sport fishing
With the autumn here and the winter weather just around the corner the fish at the Goldenloch are actively feeding to build up their winter reserves, unusual for this time of year however is the much higher water level and fly life which has been present for the last 3 weeks, this was noticeable even after the swallows departed two weeks ago, fish are seen rising and jumping to the fly on the occasional calm days but more importantly in helping the anglers to decide on their fly choice, olive damsel was certainly the one for yesterday with 6 anglers all getting maximum catches Mr Jim Wilson, Dalgety Bay had 3 beauties all over 3lbs and returned 6 to fight again and Colin Neville, Springfield had 3 for 8lbs 10oz returning 5 and losing 5 all on an olive damsel, Mr Jim Carrigan had using a hares ear 2 for 5lbs and lost loads, Mr W Patterson, Glenrothes caught 3 for 9lbs using CDC nymphs and an ace of spades with the water crystal clear anglers are seeing the fish attacking their flies fishing at the Goldenloch for the first time was Mr Lee Rankin, Dunfermline who had 3 for 7lbs and returned 6 using a black hopper he was fishing from the old flat jetty as it was the first spot he had arrived at and could not believe the enthusiasm of the fish to follow his flies.
