Goldenloch november-22-10
The water level at the Goldenloch has never been so high for so long, in the last 25 tears since we have been monitoring the loch we have never had a period like this where the rain just kept on coming, in 1985 we had a spell when there was a huge amount that fell in a month, but this year we have had it so far for two months, what effect does that have on the fishing well for a start it’s a bit uncomfortable, the ground round the loch is saturated. and it does stir up the water and make it a tad coloured, especially when combined with a strong wind, which we have had this week, what has caused a bit of a problem this week was the two days, with the wind coming from the east, Saturday was really quite normal and the boys from the Ferry Dressers, Broughty Ferry were here, and had a really good day, along with some regulars, everyone catching a few and getting plenty of offers, Sunday however saw a very cold morning, and East wind blow across the loch, it was a completely different day, the cormorants seem to have stopped coming or perhaps have found somewhere else to plaque, every morning for the past few weeks I have been going down to the loch at daybreak this is to frighten them away, apart from the fact that they eat the fish is the fact that they scare them into hiding and it really can spoil the first few hours of an anglers fishing if the fish have been terrorised, this Saturday sees the next round in the Interloch competition, between Ledcrieff, Ledyatt and Kingennie, so all the boats and bank fishing are pre booked, ( we are in effect closed for the day ) lets hope we have a nice day and that the boys from the Goldenloch can redeem themselves.
