Goldenloch september-27-10
Much cooler weather at the Goldenloch has seen some amazing fishing this past week, with some chaps getting unbelievable catches on some unbelievable flies, Mr Henderson Snr (84) from Saline arrived with his grandson Mark (30) being taken on a day trip, and as an x angler was offered a rod by us, never fished for 12 years due to a heart by-pass and arthritis, he then went on to catch 11 fish all from the boat jetty using a blob and red diawl bach, his comments were that fishing was far to easy nowadays with the use of these blobby things, and that this was his best days fun for years, the fishing is getting much better now that the algae has completely gone and with clear visibility, anglers are seeing fish in all areas most of the fish being covered are showing an interest in the flies presented, but if its not the right ones, then the connection fails, red diawl bachs have been very popular as has Montana’s and red buzzers, it is fair to say though that the orange blob seems to be in the last week a very popular choice, Messer’s Grierson and Hennen, again had a very successful day, using their own fly creation, The Bert, which basically is a fiery red Diawl Bach allowing them to catch loads, it wasn’t all plain sailing for some Saturday and Sunday saw very bright windless afternoons and the fish just going right down making it hard for those fishing and they just had to work a bit harder and fish deeper, I Adams, Cowdenbeath, did very well in just such conditions and caught 7, as did K Westland, Falkland who was using a red buzzer and orange blob, unfortunately every now and again someone has a really hard day and this week it was Betties turn a regular for a good few years Betty left empty handed however, Shaun Ferguson, Cowdenbeath, her fishing buddy had 10, keeping 2, one of which was a cracking brown trout of approx 4lbs, she did however loose a few so it wasn’t that bad for her, but she did say something about taking up sky diving or was it bungee jumping.
