Goldenloch mar-08-10
Fishing at the Goldenloch these past few days has got to have been very restful, no wind for at least seven days has meant that every rising fish has been noticed and covered, for some the rewards have been excellent like Ewan Birrell, Pittenweem, who caught 11 keeping his first 2 which weighed in at 5lbs, Ray Eastwood, Bankfoot returned 5 or 6, Alex Burns, Kirkcaldy 7 returned 3 of which were brownies, Its still cold just now and on the occasional day when the sun shines things are definitely a lot better, for example Saturday saw everyone catch fish, David Gray Glenrothes and Mike Herd Thornton who are relative beginners to fly fishing both had an excellent days sport with 6 fish each using damsels and black cormorant flies, also D Mitchell Scone and Stuart Lindsay Falkland using ace of spades and vivas, However on Sunday it was a very different story with a much colder overcast day it never really got a chance to warm up and likewise the fishing never really got started, C Bowman Pittenweem managed 2 and R Horsburgh, Pittenweem caught 1, As a result of our request for ideas, starting in April we will be holding our own Goldenloch version of the well known trout master competition, and this is to be supplemented by two or three summer competitions that are for amateurs only, holding competitions in this format should be more fun and allow people the opportunity to be able to compete no matter how good or bad they are, details will be available soon in the lodge.
