Goldenloch sept 07-09-09
This last week has seen some pretty good fishing with a fair amount of fish caught, mostly from the boats in the mornings and then from the bank by mid afternoons, its been steady this year and fair to say the fishing at the Goldenloch has probably had its best ever season, one thing that has contributed to this success has been the quality of the trout, for the past few years we thought we were getting the best we could buy in this area and then we discovered purely by chance Adam Fox, Kindrochet Fish Farm, Comrie, Perthshire, Adam has given us fish nearly every week that are outstanding, many anglers have been stripped down to the backing this year and many have lost, bent hooks or been broken by the extraordinary strength of these fish, every day I have had comments about their quality, so it’s a big up for Adam, A huge amount of rain fell on Thurs and the loch level rose about 6 inches, normally this would have upset the fishing for a few days but this year the water remained crystal clear and the fish just kept on rising, catches have been phenomenal, over the past few days the fishing has been tremendous, why, I don’t know, the nights are quite cold and the mornings are definitely fresh or brisk as we say hear, Del Gray, Leuchars arrived early on Sunday and had a great day catching 4 using a red bibio, keeping 3 for 9lbs, Ray Easton, Bankfoot had 6 all returned using a Diawl Bach, the boys from Livingstone, never having been here before had a really good day all catching at least 5 or 6 fish each, from boat and bank, interestingly some anglers have been reporting that they have been catching a few brown nice well formed trout lately, which have been returned to the loch, and these Livingston lads reckon they had one of the best well formed brownies ever of about 3 lbs.
