Goldenloch june 27-06-09
At the Goldenloch this past week anglers have had it interesting with fish moving in all areas, all the time, however finding what they are taking is not so easy, the weather has been very hot during the day and bright making the water warm up, however we have a massive amount of weed for the fish to hide in and under so all the best catches are on floating lines and dry flies, the weed is now a real problem for a lot of people, we decided weeks ago to let the weed grow just to see where exactly it was, as for the last 3 or 4 years we have not had a weed problem, due to us keeping it suppressed by using a special herbicide, at all but in those last 3 or 4 years we had an algae problem, in discussion with nearly every angler this past week about the weeds, most are quite happy to have a certain amount, in fact quite a lot, as nearly everyone fishing is using dry flies, and nearly everyone is really enjoying their fishing, but it is getting a bit out of control I had booked a special weed cutting boat to come and do a bit of trimming but the guy has let me down, promising to be the next day and never arriving so I have bought a weed cutter, brand new and it should be here in the next few days, no problemo, so the big plan this week is to be out cutting weeds, So whos been catchin fish, well at night the evening hatch is still good so long as it doesn’t get cold, three or for times last week we had very cold evenings and it just spoilt the evening rise, but Colin Jeffrey and his pals did well on Saturday night catching 6 each and returning all, Also Alan Gibson Bridge Of Earn had a great day returning 9 using Diawl Bachs, Some reasonable success has been had by some anglers using Klinkhammers this is a small fly that is made to imitate the hatching caddis fly of which we have plenty it has a bushy thorax and if used properly can be quite deadly especially the olive green ones.
