Goldenloch 08/09/2008
It’s been a really good week at the Goldenloch and as predicted the fishing has just got better and better and the fish are now taking flies of the surface, giving anglers some real interesting catches, everyone fishing just now are commenting on the quality and fight given by the fish, at the Goldenloch it has been our policy to buy the highest quality fish and we pay particular attention to making sure that all stocked fish are fully finned and tailed an exercise that means we pay more for our trout, this year it has definitely paid of well coupled with the huge food resource that is in the water the fish have just gained weight and developed into strong fighting fish, and now that they have started feeding for the winter anglers are getting rewarded with some amazing catches, it has also been noted by quite a few that there are a lot of bigger fish being caught and lost mostly due to them being extra fit and also that at this time of year the weed in the loch is at it highest height so anyone catching a fish of reasonable size has to try and keep its head up or they will just lose it in the weed, this year we have not addressed the weed problem as it confined mostly in two areas and not causing any significant problems but we are monitoring it and will remove it if it turns out to be an Indian summer as everyone is hoping for, Derek Bell Newburgh had 3 for 9lbs returning 3 using a shipman’s buzzer, Betty Henderson Cowdenbeath 2 for 6lbs using a green Diawl Bach, D Flavell Abernethy was particularly delighted with a gorgeous brown trout of 1.75lbs caught on a shipman’s buzzer complimenting his other fish a 3lb rainbow but the best catch of the week has to go to a young man Chad Milne, Glenrothes approx 7 years who caught and landed a 3 lb rainbow all on his own, with the water crystal clear and at its highest for years things are looking good for the rest of the season, it’s a pleasure running a fishery when the anglers come of the water happy its what fishing is all about we want you to come and relax and catch fish.
