Goldenloch 04/08/2008
With settled weather the fishing at the Goldenloch has improved dramatically fish can be seen in all areas and are rising most of the day and anglers have been getting really good catches, now that the wind has finally abated the water has cleared the visibility is really good the only real problem is that the water level is low, we have had some rain but not a huge amount, we seem to miss the really heavy rain that fell all over Scotland last week, on that note this week we are taking advantage of the lower water levels to tidy up the loch edges with a digger if it arrives, so there will be a bit of inconvenience, we will try to be as quite as possible but for future fishing what we have planned will help a lot, this past week has seen a huge amount of fish nymphing especially round the weedbanks and loch edges, Mr Elves, from Cambridge who has fished for many years commented that this was how fly fishing was when he was a boy in the 20s and that his father reckoned the future in fly fishing was going to be nymph flies, which were relatively uncommon then as they were very expensive a penny each, but the biggest problem was getting them, as only a few people knew what to tie, no magazines or internet then, Jim McCleary Dundee had a good time on Saturday with 3 for 7lbs as did Glenfarg A/C who all caught fish the Burns Brothers had 2 each for 6lbs and returned quite a few Dave Wilson, Kettle, fishing during a very bright day on Sunday had 3 for 9lbs with one at 4.5lbs, totally chuffed with his catch he had a great days sport.
