Pretty much it’s all back to normal now, the algae has all but disappeared a very small trace at the boats, the school event the 2023 leavers bash was well received and good fun, so much torrential heavy rain though, I had planned to have 5 or 6 days pulling weed, managed to get one, plus several attempts, pretty much the reason the algae has gone is due to the presence of the weed, I have made lots of space for anglers to fish and the plan is to remove chunks of weed as time moves on, plus with the really heavy showers I was good at getting soaked, I have also managed a few improvements, new gravel now, which tidies up the approach and the boat jetty is now finished, Gavin has repaired the toilet block and we now have a fully functioning mains toilet with a couple of showers etc, there has been quite a few lads fishing in the past week, interestingly Stewart Penman (without Leslie Mitchell on his Holidays) had 5, using a bright teal damsel, John Bowman, Dundee, 5 returned, lost 2 plus he had 3 Perch, Brian Stewart, Dundee had 8 again in a couple of very wet hours, John Basford 2 on Damsels, Roy Kelly 8 on damsels plus yellow dancers. D Wilson with Rod Thaw had 18 Dave on 8 Rod on 10 plus 7 Perch. Last Sunday was when the loch was probably the worst, I have ever seen it, Brian Kemp arrived to teach Grandson Kyle how to fish, it was blistering hot day, Janie sat and sunbathed as Brian on the middle jetty showed kyle what to do, the result was Brian 2, Kyle 1, plus a few lost. This week end was a fun weekend for the kids of Newburgh Primary school, the loch was closed to anglers however, that’s not to say it hasn’t been stocked lately a huge load put in last week, hopefully some of the visiting kids will catch a few, anyway its back to normal as from 3pm on Sunday and next week should be good as they say Normal Service will be Resumed as soon as possible. Picture of the kids playing in the water tell you about the fun they were having.
