Certainly does not feel like May, not in the North of Fife anyway, the flowering trees are not blooming, the crocus are minute, shrubs and trees have very small leaves, everything is just being held up by the cold, some trees are trying hard, the rowan has leaves on it and flowers, but small, down at the fishery there are green shoots of reeds round the edges, someone said yesterday they could see green shoots deep down in the water, however there are fish everywhere, anglers are really enjoying their time fishing at the Goldenloch just now, no one leaving early, yesterday Saturday 06th Lloyd our buddy coach had a group of 11 under his wing, complete novices, he did a good job in showing them what to do, they all thoroughly enjoyed the visit with us, some catching fish, they left with 5 cracking trout to be cooked by their company provided private chef, at their castle residence, almost the perfect afternoon for them, another new lad to us yesterday was Kenton Francis trying out a new and different place, very quickly settling in he had 7 fish to his boat in his session not bad for a 15 year old, on Thursday past the group of lads from Perth attended, this is our way of letting people that have had hardship or misery in their lives get the ability to come and enjoy a wee bit open air freedom, Fly Fishing, our man Llyod assisted by another, Gerry Swan, and sometimes a social worker help the guys along, Perth and District council are being amazing, I believe are going to provide some new rods and reels for these lads, that on top of the brand new BBQ, which will be used providing lunch for all, ( a lot bigger than our wee one ) this group is expanding weekly, anyone with loneliness’ or in need of company, plus you will learn to Fly Fish, are welcome to come and join in, no matter your age or sex from 10am onwards every Thursday, and it doesn’t seem to have any restrictions by the weather, as for this report the last week has been pretty good, John Bashford 3 released killing 1, Dave Wilson and Rod Thaw both getting their usual, Brian Gilloway 10, Sandy Band Alec Cuthbert and Stewart Cameron all on 1 but had a great days fishing casting over rising fish, Wednesday saw Brian Imrie on 10 all released, George Duff 9 released, Roy Kelly first time out this year lost 3 caught 1 fish rising everywhere, Jock Souter says that Wednesday’s are jinxed for him blanked Lol, Callum Ford on Tuesday caught a big fish which he eventually netted using a damsel fly, Debbie McConnacher caught and released an over 3lb fish Loads rising while Derek Mc Donouch, had 2 with loads rising all around them, Sandy band 2 from the bank, John Leckie out first time this year had 13 all released, and Dundee lads Scott Fraser using buzzers had 10, his brother Steven also 10 on dry’s and buzzers commenting that there was the best rise that they had ever seen.
