Goldenloch 26/05/2008
The fishing at the Goldenloch has now changed to what anglers would call proper fishing with buzzers and small flies being the norm, some lads have had a really good days fishing, the only thing spoiling a day out is the bright cloudless days and the constant easterly breeze which can put the fish down if it has got a chill in it, however over the past few days this wind has been warm and hasn’t stopped the fish coming up, getting back into dry flies for the first time this year was Mr and Mrs Henderson, Lieth, from the bank they had 7 fish all returned using home tied dry flies, great sport was the comment and loads of follows and fish showing interest, the loch this year has seen some amazing buzzer hatches especially between 7 and 9 in the evenings last night saw Jim Wilson Dalgety Bay get 9 again all returned using small traditional Scottish wet flies, we had Buckhaven High School arrive on Friday past for a Fly Fishing trip, 10 pupils and some staff, this exercise is to enable youngsters to experience the sport which they may not be able to do in there own home environment, the day was a huge success with a lunch time bar-bee, with the pupils getting a few tugs and some lost fish due to using barbless hooks everyone had a superb day out, well done to Messrs Spence, Fulton and ????? For your patience in sorting a few tangles, the comments from the anglers present on the loch were all praising the kid’s behaviour and enthusiasm, On that note if any angler has some old equipment or needs an excuse to buy a new rod or reel we would gratefully have your old ones as we have a few more days like the one just mentioned where we need some more rods, etc, what happens is that any child who shows a willingness to want to fish and say cant afford to get equipment we give them a rod and reel last year 11 benefited from your old gear, so give it a thought when you next clear out your kit.
