Covered in Ice at the moment, which is great for the cormorant control, but it is a disaster for working out the numbers of attending birds, as Scottish National Heritage only wants the registered figures as a zero birds in attendance, so in getting LICENSE to control the birds you need as many birds attending as possible, if you see what I mean, Talking about birds we definitely have had a cull or it may be this Avian flu, but certainly there is only seagulls and pigeons here now at the bird feeders, no sign of any other small birds not even a Robin, this year will see the demise of season tickets, and the monthly ticket system, which I thought would have been most popular, however the whole system has been made impossible by some lads not paying their monthly fees, also with the season ticket system, a few deaths, retirements, a none willingness to commit to buying tickets, also we do not do a summer season ticket any more, due to its poor uptake, plus the participants abused the slightly stricter rules, in that the summer was a weekday ticket only, plus there seems to be a reaction to the price increase, which was planned well in advance, it has made me decide to just scrap the whole system it no longer applies, from now on payments will be on the day at face value, we try hard to operate a fishery which is fair to both anglers and ourselves, giving those that supported us a loyalty in the form of ticket price, if this means a reduction in numbers then so be it, but we certainly will not be pressurised, if anglers are looking for cheap deals then they will have to go elsewhere, I certainly do not like being made a fool off. As for the fishing I had kept a wee pool ice free and on Wednesday before the -5 frost 2 lads arriving on chance, brothers Alf and Tommy in Scotland, visiting there Mum, jokingly I said just fish if you want and leave money for what you think it was worth, assuming that they would be away quite quick, on my returning from Perth they were just leaving after catching 6, and 8, keeping 2 for Mum plus £50 to cover their day, we are however well and truly frozen at the moment
